Director, Kravis Leadership Institute / Full or advanced Associate Professor

About the role

The successful candidate will lead the Kravis Leadership Institute (KLI) at Claremont McKenna College (CMC), providing intellectual and strategic leadership for KLI's research initiatives, curricular innovation, and co-curricular leadership programs. The Director will also promote faculty and student research collaborations, mentor students, and oversee signature leadership and experiential opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide intellectual and strategic leadership for the Institute, overseeing KLI’s research initiatives, curricular innovation, and co-curricular leadership programs.
  • Shape the Institutes academic and programmatic vision, steward its resources, strengthen student engagement, and foster interdisciplinary collaboration across the College and beyond.
  • Promote faculty and student research collaborations, mentor students, and oversee signature leadership and experiential opportunities.
  • Support externally engaged programming, conferences, and partnerships; assist with fundraising; and represent KLI nationally and internationally.
  • Ensure that KLI continues to provide innovative, high-impact opportunities that prepare students to become effective and responsible leaders across public, private, and social sectors.

Requirements

The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline and demonstrate the ability to maintain an active, high-quality research program and a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and mentorship.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct research in leadership and related fields.
  • Experience in leadership development and/or research.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.

Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Experience in fundraising and external engagement.

Benefits

The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $180,000 - $300,000, depending on discipline, rank, and experience, as well as a $25,000 Institute Director Stipend. Pay
