Director - IT Backoffice Applications

About the role

This fully onsite position is responsible for leading the strategy, roadmap development, and execution of technology initiatives supporting core corporate functions including Finance, Human Resources, Legal, and Real Estate. The role plays a critical part in ensuring that technology capabilities enable business agility, operational efficiency, and scalability across a large, complex retail organization. The ideal candidate combines strong technology leadership, program delivery expertise, and business partnership skills to drive impactful solutions in a fast-paced and highly dynamic environment. This leader will champion a culture that emphasizes simplicity, speed of execution, collaboration, accountability, and transparency.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute multi-year technology roadmaps for Back Office platforms supporting Finance, HR, Legal, and Real Estate functions.
• Align IT strategy with enterprise priorities, ensuring initiatives deliver measurable business value and support long-term scalability.
• Evaluate and implement modern technologies and platforms that simplify processes and improve operational efficiency.
• Ensure initiatives are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget, while maintaining high standards for quality and security.
• Serve as a strategic technology partner to senior leaders across Finance, HR, Legal, and Real Estate.
• Foster strong relationships with functional leaders to ensure alignment between IT delivery and business priorities.
• Translate business needs into technology solutions that enable productivity, automation, and data-driven decision making.
• Ensure compliance with corporate governance, regulatory requirements, and security standards.
• Build and lead a high-performing team of IT professionals and delivery partners.
• Display and promote behaviors including accountability, simplicity, speed, empowerment, and transparency.
• Manage relationships with key technology vendors, system integrators, and consulting partners.

Requirements

• Fully onsite office work environment.
• On-call support.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
• 10+ years of progressive IT experience, with 5+ years of managing large, cross-functional teams or projects in a retail environment.
• Strong understanding of retail systems (POS, ERP, CRM, inventory, supply chain).
• Proven experience leading enterprise-scale transformation initiatives.
• Ability to positively influence key stakeholders and senior-level leadership.
• Ability to develop, present, and communicate technical concepts to varying audiences.
• High sense of urgency and ability to motivate a team toward achieving results in a dynamic environment.
• RMS, Workday, and Lawson knowledge highly preferred.

Pay

Projected salary range: $180,000 - $190,000.
