Director, Internal Communications & Engagement

About the Role

We are responsible for the overall health of our community’s pediatric population in our hospitals, clinics, and practices. The Director, Internal Communications & Engagement leads internal communications for Rady Children’s Health, with the goal of driving employee and physician engagement, trust, and cultural alignment.

Reporting to the Associate Chief Marketing & Communications Officer, this role is dedicated to helping ensure physicians and employees feel connected to the organization’s mission by ensuring the provision of consistent communications and clear messaging that support organizational priorities and builds confidence in leadership.

Responsibilities

• Translate complex issues into clear, engaging, and compelling content for diverse audiences.
• Prepare and deliver PowerPoint presentations.
• Develop strong storytelling skills to connect strategy and culture through compelling narratives that inspire physicians and employees.
• Manage change communication, anticipating physician/employee concerns and crafting messages that build understanding and foster trust.
• Lead and manage people effectively.
• Utilize expertise in employee/internal communications channels.
• Collaborate and build relationships across departments, including HR and Medical Staff.
• Handle sensitive issues with discretion and clarity.
• Apply a data-driven approach to communications measurement.

Requirements

• At least eight (8) years in communications; minimum five (5) years in a leadership/management role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, PR, Journalism, Marketing, or related field.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Healthcare or large complex system experience (preferred).
• Master’s degree in a related discipline (preferred).

Skills

• Strong collaboration and relationship-building.
• Ability to work in environments with physical demands including lifting (floor to waist level and above), pushing/pulling, bending, carrying objects, standing, walking, and keyboard use/repetitive motion.
• Sensory requirements: color discrimination, depth perception, far and near vision, hearing.
• Environmental exposure to airborne communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, chemicals, dust, extreme noise levels, extreme temperatures, radiation, and uneven surfaces.

Pay

Pay range minimum: $121,347, midpoint: $160,826, maximum: $200,283. Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.

Schedule

Day shift – 08 hours.
