About the role
The Director I, Quality (Project) role at Fluor is dedicated to providing strategic quality leadership for a major project, directly supporting project execution and delivery.
Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of project quality management, including technical quality, adherence to client, regulatory, and company requirements, and administrative functions.
- Serve as the primary quality leader for the project, acting as the Project Quality Manager.
- Implement and maintain project-specific quality management systems, including AS9100 compliance.
- Facilitate the implementation of Operating System Requirements (OSR) for the project.
- Maintain effective relationships with project stakeholders, including internal and external clients, regulatory agencies, and the quality community.
- Manage and develop project quality personnel, providing training, mentorship, and performance feedback.
- Analyze project situations, identify and forecast quality-related risks, and implement effective solutions.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable project policies, procedures, and standards.
- Support project Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability initiatives.
- Prepare and present quality reports, metrics, and recommendations to project leadership.
- Travel as required to project sites and client locations.
Requirements
- Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and eighteen (18) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to twenty-two (22) years if non-degreed.
- Some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements.
- Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job.
- Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines.
- Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner.
Basic Job Requirements
- Active Top-Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance.
- Job-related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job.
- Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner.
Preferred Qualifications
- Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering/technical field preferred.
- Advanced degree (e.g., Master’s degree or global equivalent) in engineering, technical, or administrative discipline preferred.
- Professional engineering registration preferred.
- Auditor certification by outside agency (e.g., RAB, ASQ, IQA, or local equivalent) preferred.
- Internal Lead Auditor certification required.
- Eighteen (18) years of related quality/project experience.
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated experience managing an AS9100 quality program supporting US Government contracts is strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Comprehensive understanding of project management, business processes, and quality systems.
- Ability to collaborate with project executives, managers, and site leaders to drive quality improvements.
- Ability to proactively communicate Quality/Continuous Performance Improvement direction and approach.
