Director, Human Resources & Organizational Development
About the role
The Director of Human Resources & Organizational Development is responsible for leading all human resources practices and objectives that foster a high-performance culture emphasizing empowerment, quality, productivity, and standards.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with senior leadership to align human resources strategies with organizational goals.
- Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, and initiatives to ensure compliance and strategic alignment.
- Administers human resource programs including compensation, payroll, benefits, and leave; handles disciplinary matters; manages disputes and investigations; and oversees performance and talent management.
- Serves as HR representative for town halls and coordinates the planning and implementation of the Institute for Leadership and Supervisor Training.
- Identifies staffing and recruiting needs, develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management, and conducts research and analysis of organizational trends.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices.
- Communicates changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management and maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources.
- Creates efficient and consistent processes within the HR department and provides training for these processes.
- Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff and conducts training for all employees on requested or required topics.
- Serves on institutional standing committees and conducts policy reviews as needed.
- Provides training to supervisors for proper use of performance evaluation tools and supervisory regulations and procedures.
- Oversees all positions within Human Resources, including Human Resources Business Partner, Payroll, and Human Resource Generalist.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field, or three years of progressive HR related work experience.
- Masters Degree in Human Resources preferred.
- SHRM or other HR related certifications preferred.
- FMLA, Title IX, FLSA, Payroll, and Employee Benefit management experience preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position oversees all positions within Human Resources, such as: Human Resources Business Partner, Payroll, and Human Resource Generalist.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to an indoor environment and a classroom setting. The employee may occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
