Director Health Information Management

About the role
This position is essential in implementing the vision and strategic goals of Nuvance Health under the direction of Vice President of Revenue Integrity. Provides strategic planning and leadership for the system-wide operations of Health Information Services. Ensures divisional and organizational objectives are achieved by managing Health Information in a timely manner and in compliance with all applicable federal and state regulatory guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of core hospital functions related to Health Information Management Operations, including release of information, medical record processing and completion, document scanning, analysis of provider deficiencies, birth registry maintenance, system data integrity, patient portal, and record retention.
- Oversee accuracy and timeliness of Health Information Management functions for the system’s medical group practices, including the release of information, document scanning, information storage, retrieval, and record retention.
- Plan, develop, and administer Health Information services in accordance with standards set by state and federal accrediting and regulatory agencies.
- Report on the status of compliance and quality improvement initiatives related to Health Information Management Operations.
- Drive process improvements by analyzing metrics and workflows to eliminate redundancies and identify opportunities for efficiency and consistency.
- Manage the annual budget for staffing, operational needs, information technology, and capital equipment.
- Develop and maintain productivity and quality standards across departments.
- Develop, retain, and motivate staff to ensure a highly credentialed and competent team.
- Participate in various hospital committees, including data governance, as requested to aid in quality improvement processes.
- Model and uphold the values of Nuvance Health.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Health Information Management or related field required.
- Ten (10) plus years of HIM leadership experience preferred.
- RHIT/RHIA certification is required.
- Knowledge of EMR development, technology, and industry initiatives such as EHRs, PHRs, patient portals, HIE, and their effects on HIM practices today and in the future.
- Knowledge of applicable regulations and accreditation standards; knowledge of state and federal requirements related to managing health information.
- Knowledge of privacy and security regulations, confidentiality laws, access and release of information practices.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with physicians and managerial staff at all levels.
- 3M, Cerner experience preferred.

Pay
$59.84 - $111.12 hourly
