Director, Government Relations (Remote)

About the role

For our client, we are seeking a Director, Government Relations to join the team of a leader in the Retail & Consumer Goods space. This role will lead government affairs efforts that shape policy positioning and support strategic business priorities. You will build and manage key external relationships, deliver clear legislative insight to executive leadership, and help guide the organization through an evolving regulatory environment. The position also calls for close collaboration across internal teams and external stakeholders to advance advocacy initiatives and strengthen the company’s public policy presence.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain influential relationships with key government officials
• Provide detailed legislative analysis to executive leadership
• Monitor and assess the regulatory landscape to support strategic positioning
• Create persuasive policy documents for stakeholder communications
• Manage consultants and collaborate across departments on policy initiatives
• Present policy positions effectively to government and industry groups
• Strengthen the organization’s influence through partnerships and community outreach
• Develop advocacy strategies that adapt to regulatory changes

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in government affairs with congressional insight
• Strong grasp of public policy and legislative processes
• Excellent writing and communication abilities for diverse audiences
• Demonstrated negotiation skills and stakeholder influence
• Political campaign experience preferred
• Visionary problem-solving aptitude with innovative advocacy
• Proven leadership and project management expertise

Pay

$180,000 – $215,000 annually
