About the RoleLocation: Reading, Pennsylvania Reports to: Senior Vice President of Operations Department: Operations Travel: Domestic and international travel as neededReading Bakery Systems (RBS) is seeking an experienced global supply chain professional to lead our worldwide sourcing, supplier management, and logistics strategies.This highly visible role will develop international supplier relationships, negotiate strategic agreements, manage supply chain risk, and identify opportunities to improve cost, quality, delivery, and business continuity. The Director, Global Supply Chain will work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management, and Customer Care to support our engineered equipment and aftermarket operations.The successful candidate will combine strategic thinking with hands-on research, analysis, negotiation, and problem-solving in a global manufacturing environment. Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute global sourcing and supply chain strategies aligned with company objectives and operational priorities.Identify, evaluate, qualify, and develop suppliers worldwide based on cost, quality, delivery, capacity, and risk.Negotiate supplier agreements, pricing structures, and long-term contracts.Manage relationships and contractual agreements with key suppliers and logistics partners.Oversee international logistics considerations, including freight management, customs requirements, import/export processes, and trade compliance.Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management, and Customer Care to align sourcing and logistics activities with business needs.Analyze supplier performance, costs, market conditions, and supply chain risks to identify improvement opportunities.Monitor global market trends, material availability, geopolitical risks, and regulatory developments.Lead initiatives to improve supplier performance, control costs, strengthen business continuity, and support sustainability goals.Partner with internal teams to establish appropriate inventory levels and stocking strategies. QualificationsBachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, engineering, or a related field. Substantial directly related experience may be considered in place of a degree.At least 10 years of progressive experience in global sourcing, supply chain, procurement, or logistics, preferably within manufacturing or capital equipment.Demonstrated success developing and managing international supplier networks.Strong knowledge of international freight, customs, import/export requirements, and trade compliance.Proven contract negotiation, supplier management, and cost-analysis capabilities.Experience using ERP or MRP systems; Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience is strongly preferred.Strong data analysis, reporting, communication, and relationship-management skills.Ability to work effectively across departments, cultures, and international markets.Ability to travel domestically and internationally as business needs require.Preferred ExperienceEngineered-to-order, capital equipment, or industrial manufacturing experience.Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.Supply chain risk management and sustainability experience.
