The Director of Real Estate & Engineering Facilities is responsible for leading the global strategy and operational management of MiniMed’s facilities, real estate portfolio, engineering infrastructure, standards, and change control process supporting GMP manufacturing, warehousing, laboratories, distribution, and back-office environments. This role ensures that all facilities operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory standards while supporting business growth and operational excellence. The Director partners closely with Integrated Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, EHS, Finance, Commercial, Sales, HR, IT and Corporate leadership to develop and execute facility strategies that enable operational performance, optimize space utilization, and support long-term business needs. This leader will also oversee capital projects, facilities engineering initiatives, and vendor partnerships across the facilities portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Lead the global real estate and facilities strategy supporting manufacturing, distribution, and corporate sites to ensure operational readiness, scalability, and cost efficiency.
- Oversee facilities engineering, utilities, maintenance programs, and infrastructure reliability to ensure uninterrupted operations across manufacturing and operational sites.
- Establish governance and oversight for facilities capital investments, including expansion projects, infrastructure upgrades, and workplace modernization initiatives.
- Oversee and manage the operational aspects of ongoing facilities and infrastructure projects and serve as liaison between project management, planning teams, project teams, and operational leadership.
- Review project status, budgets, and schedules, and prepare executive-level reports on capital projects, facilities upgrades, and infrastructure investments.
- Assess project issues and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, compliance, and stakeholder satisfaction objectives.
- Develop mechanisms for monitoring project progress and implement intervention strategies to address project risks, delays, and operational challenges.
- Partner with Manufacturing and Integrated Supply Chain leadership to ensure facilities capabilities align with production ramp plans, product transfers, and operational growth strategies.
- Lead long-term real estate planning, site capacity modeling, and facilities portfolio optimization across the organization.
- Ensure facilities operations comply with regulatory standards, safety requirements, environmental regulations, and industry best practices applicable to medical device manufacturing.
- Collaborate with EHS and Quality teams to maintain safe, compliant, and audit-ready facilities.
- Oversee vendor management for facilities services, engineering contractors, real estate partners, and construction firms.
- Drive operational efficiency and cost optimization across facilities operations through vendor management, asset lifecycle planning, and process improvement initiatives.
- Lead and develop a high-performing facilities and engineering team across multiple locations, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Support manufacturing site expansions, technology upgrades, and operational transformation initiatives.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of relevant professional experience in facilities engineering, real estate management, construction management, infrastructure operations, or capital project leadership. Or, advanced degree and 8+ years of relevant professional experience in facilities engineering, real estate management, construction management, infrastructure operations, or capital project leadership.
- 7+ years of leadership experience managing teams, major capital projects, or multi-site facilities operations.
Nice to Have
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Construction Management, or related discipline.
- Professional certifications such as Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or Project Management Professional (PMP).
- Demonstrated experience leading large-scale infrastructure or facilities capital programs.
- Strong knowledge of facilities operations, engineering systems, utilities infrastructure, and capital project execution.
- Experience supporting manufacturing or operational environments, preferably in regulated industries such as medical devices, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, or advanced manufacturing.
- Experience leading multi-site global facilities operations.
- Experience supporting manufacturing expansion, product transfers, or large-scale operational ramp-ups.
- Experience driving sustainability initiatives, energy efficiency programs, and smart facilities technologies.

Benefits & Compensation
MiniMed offers a competitive salary and flexible benefits package. Salary ranges for U.S. (excl. PR) locations (USD):$167,000.00 - $285,000.00 For roles located in California, Seattle WA, Washington DC, Boston MA, and New York City, the salary range is $186,000 - $316,000 USD. Actual compensation may vary based on factors including experience, education, certifications, skills, market conditions, internal equity, and geographic location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
