Job Description

The Director, Global R&D Program Management position leads and oversees New Product Development (“NPD”) initiatives. Position is responsible for assembling and guiding a high-functioning Program Management team and driving the successful execution of major NPD projects across different product lines. Position will be instrumental in delivering cutting-edge products to market, meeting project objectives, and maintaining adherence to budget and schedule. Key responsibilities include:

  • Build & Lead High-Functioning Teams: Consolidate existing NPD Program Managers into a unified team. Recruit additional Program Managers to support incremental NPD initiatives. Develop individual team members' program management competencies.
  • NPD Project Execution: Lead cross-functional teams to successful launches of NPD machines, resulting in ready-to serve products. Foster alignment and collaboration across multiple functional areas towards common business objectives. Continuously assess, redirect, and adjust teams to ensure product and project objectives are met.
  • Deliver NPD Product & Project Results: Define clear project scope, deliverables, schedule, and financial targets before project execution. Through the Program Management team, achieve objectives for key NPD initiatives, including NPD milestones, schedule adherence, product cost targets, and project cost targets. Conduct quality control on all major NPD projects to maintain high standards. Make effective decisions to drive project progress when faced with multiple options.
  • Establish NPD Project Execution Standards, Playbook & Discipline: Develop, implement, and maintain a standards playbook across all product lines and projects, including scheduling management systems, work breakdown structures, critical path and dependency assessment tools, project status reporting processes and systems, and Agile approaches. Ensure disciplined adherence to Project Management execution play.
  • Facilitate and drive effective conflict resolution. Exhibit exceptional communication skills across all levels and business disciplines.

  • Building a high-functioning Program Management Team.
  • Establishing NPD execution playbook and driving disciplined adherence.
  • Fulfilling product requirements.
  • Delivering NPD Milestones, schedule, product costs, and project costs.

Position Requirements

  • Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field (or foreign degree equivalent); and 8 years of relevant experience. 8 years of experience in each of the following: New Product development and integration for product launch; Leading cross-functional teams; Conducting product cost analysis and management; Tracking KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) for production performance; and Utilizing Program Management Software such as MS Project.

Pay

Salary Range: $154,425 - $220,000.00

Position Requirements

  • Domestic travel up to 40% of time, including to BW Papersystems manufacturing sites (in WI) for new product development launches, to BW corporate offices (in MO) for leadership meetings, and to customer sites for product launches. Also, limited (1-2 times per yr.) international travel required for meetings and customer visits.
