About the role

This senior leadership position provides visibility to high-level business and IT management across Ford Automotive, Credit, and EVDD domains. The role offers exposure to leading-edge technologies such as AI, Connected Vehicle, technology transformations, new software development efforts, and SaaS implementations. You will establish a strong leadership presence and engage with senior leaders across technology, including the CIO and CISO.

As part of an Audit modernization initiative, the team has implemented process improvements focused on a risk-based auditing approach. With the advent of AI, the future of internal audit continues to evolve rapidly. This role requires an innovative individual who embraces change, implements new approaches, and consistently identifies key risk areas for the enterprise.

Career development opportunities may include advanced roles within the core IT organization, cybersecurity, internal control, or the Internal Audit function. Expect at least 25% travel across all regions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the organization’s business processes, goals, annual objectives, and strategy by analyzing and interpreting technology risks and challenges.
  • Conduct benchmarking across industries and build a strong peer network through participation in ISACA and IIA forums.
  • Research industry trends relevant to automotive, financial, AI, connected vehicle, core software technology, cybersecurity, and audits.
  • Examine and analyze technology and business risks by performing risk assessments, developing audit plans, executing audit work, and preparing audit reports.
  • Develop a risk-based technology audit plan; assess areas of risk requiring technology audit procedures; and execute audit procedures based on risk and impact to the business across applications, technologies, and business processes in collaboration with internal and external partners.
  • Monitor completion of planned actions and support organization transformation initiatives with pilots of new processes and audit responses.
  • Proactively identify areas of business initiatives and changes in the technology environment, assessing their impact on internal audit.
  • Partner with a global business audit team of approximately 100+ people.
  • Interact regularly with internal Cyber Defense, internal controls, and Security Policy teams.
  • Develop an aligned view of risk taxonomy and risk universe for the Internal Audit Group globally.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering is required; an advanced degree in business may be advantageous.
  • 5+ years of technology audit or information security experience.
  • 10+ years of software design and delivery experience, including software engineering, application development, security controls, and/or infrastructure design and operations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Audit certification (CIA, CISA, and/or CISSP).
  • Extensive knowledge of industry security frameworks (NIST, ISO, R155/156, ASPICE, etc.) and understanding of inherent risks and/or control risks.
  • 10+ years of experience leading global and diverse teams.
  • 5+ years of supplier relationship management experience.
  • Experience transforming a global audit team.
  • Well-versed in auditing digital risk, with the ability to address the effects of AI and the need for continuous monitoring, risk, and compliance.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic environment with minimal direction, along with the ability to accept a leadership role as a change agent to drive new and effective processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of leadership.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating professionalism in all actions.
  • Proven project management skills and the ability to lead multiple initiatives simultaneously with minimal direction.
