Director Global Business Strategy – Reinforcement Materials
About the role
The Director of Global Business Strategy will lead the development of mid- and long-term strategy, drive high-impact global initiatives, and influence key decisions that shape the Reinforcement Materials segment's future. Reporting to the Segment President, CFO, CEO, and senior leaders, this role works closely to advance initiatives that accelerate growth, strengthen the competitive position, and expand Cabot's global footprint.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and articulation of the global long-range strategy and business plan.
- Provide strategic input to market, technology, and asset strategies across the segment.
- Review existing business activities for Reinforcement Materials and Cabot, evaluate strategic fit, and identify new opportunities to enhance the portfolio.
- Drive strategic initiatives related to partnerships, acquisitions, and adjacent-market expansion.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop winning commercial strategies that accelerate profitable growth and strengthen Cabot’s market position.
- Advise senior leadership on critical business matters, presenting scenario analyses, risks, and strategic options.
- Build and validate financial models, investment cases, and business scenarios.
- Partner with finance, technology, sales, supply chain, and manufacturing to ensure alignment and sound business outcomes.
- Create and maintain the strategic framework that guides business direction.
- Collaborate with marketing and commercial teams to gather and synthesize competitive and market intelligence to inform strategic choices.
- Maintain a competitive analysis framework to monitor global industry dynamics and advise senior leaders on implications and required shifts in strategy.
- Lead major strategic initiatives and cross-functional projects from ideation through execution.
- Coordinate across Cabot’s corporate, regional, and segment functions to ensure delivery of business case objectives.
- Support and reinforce Responsible Care® and RC14001® requirements as applicable.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or business required; MBA strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in finance, or strategy consulting with a track record of leadership and delivering results.
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing a team.
- Demonstrated success leading complex, cross-functional initiatives and driving strategic outcomes.
- Experience in global business environments.
- Strong customer focus and ability to understand how Cabot’s technologies enable performance in customer applications.
