Director for Inclusive Excellence and Institutional Success
About the role
The State University of New York (SUNY) System is seeking a Director for Inclusive Excellence and Institutional Success/Deputy to Interim System CDO. This position will report to the Interim SUNY Chief Diversity Officer and will oversee system-wide strategic programs and initiatives.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Serving as a senior member of ODEI, in support of the interim Chief Diversity Officer, and member of SUNY System's leadership team to establish and enhance synergies across the portfolio.
- Serving as a key departmental leader, in support of the Interim Chief Diversity Officer, to advance SUNY mission-driven programming and initiatives across SUNY, in collaboration with SUNY System or SUNY campus personnel, as applicable and assigned.
- Managing, executing and assessing key departmental initiatives and programs assigned by Interim Chief Diversity Officer.
- Contributing to the successful creation and execution of the State of the University agenda.
- Fostering relationships with and across all SUNY campuses and external community groups to promote SUNY mission.
- Facilitating a system-wide learning community for SUNY Chief Diversity Officers and/or other key stakeholders, through webinars, information sessions, or otherwise, to increase cross-campus engagement in furtherance of shared supports and best practices for overall SUNY student and faculty success.
- Supervising one professional staff member and work collaboratively with department staff on various key departmental initiatives and projects.
- Developing, analyzing, and operationalizing data-informed strategies to enhance student and employee wellbeing and success across SUNY System, as related to campus climate and other support services.
- Providing consultation and decision-making support to key SUNY campus stakeholders concerning matters related to departmental efforts.
- Reporting key updates and recommendations to the Interim Chief Diversity Officer, as applicable to the role as defined, including progress reporting on existing and new system-wide initiatives.
- Developing presentations, comprehensive reports, and outreach materials for the Chancellor's Office and System colleagues that highlight key developments in student success in relation to SUNY's four pillars.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree.
- Six to eight years of experience working in higher education or related fields.
- Demonstrated success in identifying and implementing policies and best practices as related to SUNY's four pillars (student success; research and scholarship; diversity, equity and inclusion; and economic development and upward mobility), with focused efforts on equity, inclusivity and accessibility across the entire campus population.
- Evidence of experience and skills in scholarly research, data analysis, assessment and knowledge/understanding relating to diversity, equity and inclusion in higher education setting.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and presentation skills with the ability to translate complex subject matter for diverse audiences.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and efficiently.
- Ability to work independently and contribute as a collaborator.
Additional Information
Salary is dependent on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, training, and certifications. The range for this position is $91,000 - $107,000 annually. This position is based in the Albany SUNY System Office; ability to travel frequently and participate in evening and occasional weekend activities is required.
