About Menarini Group
Founded in 1886 in Naples under the name of Farmacia Internazionale, Menarini moved in 1915 to Florence where the Group’s headquarters are still located today. With nearly 135 years of history, Menarini is a leading international biopharmaceutical company committed to advancing health through innovation, research, and quality. The Group is present in 70 countries, with products sold in 140 locations worldwide, and employs around 18,000 people across 18 manufacturing sites on six continents. Menarini’s five pillars — high-quality therapeutics and diagnostics, ethics, dedication to innovation, strong people-centricity, and environmental sustainability — underpin its purpose-driven culture.
The acquisition of Stemline Therapeutics in June 2020 strengthened Menarini’s oncology portfolio, adding both commercial and clinical-stage assets. Key oncology assets include Tagraxofusp (a first-in-class CD123-targeted therapy for blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm), Selinexor (a selective inhibitor of nuclear export for hematologic cancers and solid tumors), and Elacestrant (an oral SERD for hormone receptor-positive advanced breast cancer, FDA-approved in 2023). Menarini also invests in liquid biopsy diagnostics through its affiliate Menarini Silicon Biosystems, whose CELLSEARCH CTC test is the only FDA-cleared blood test for detecting circulating tumor cells in metastatic breast, prostate, and colorectal cancers.
