About the role

The Director, Finance & Accounting is a critical role responsible for overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls. This role partners closely with business leaders to ensure financial integrity, support operational performance, and drive disciplined decision-making. This position is heavily accounting-focused, with strong ownership of financial accuracy, compliance, and inventory-related accounting processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead accounting operations and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP
  • Maintain strong internal controls and overall financial integrity
  • Support budgeting and forecasting with a focus on financial accuracy
  • Provide financial insights to support business decisions
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, tax, and audit requirements
  • Manage external audit and advisory relationships
  • Lead and develop the accounting and finance team
  • Drive process improvements across systems and workflows

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
  • CPA, MBA, or advanced credentials (preferred)
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including 5+ years in a Controller or equivalent leadership role
  • Proven experience leading accounting operations and financial reporting (not solely FP&A focused)
  • Strong working knowledge of FP&A to support business partnership
  • Deep hands-on SAP experience in inventory accounting and ECC (ERP Central Component) environments
  • Ability to trace and reconcile inventory activity from GL postings to source transactions
  • Experience in distribution, manufacturing, or inventory-intensive environments

Qualifications

  • Must be authorized to work for Summit Electric /Sonepar in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of industry-specific accounting standards and regulations
