Job Summary
This position provides leadership and administrative support to the system-wide strategy, planning, development and management of the Facilities and Engineering Management (F&EM) operations. Directs and oversees financial stewardship with an emphasis on providing efficient utilization of resources.
Essential Functions
- Establishes and approves annual and quarterly objectives and key results for the hospital based operational areas and executes action plans to achieve the results.
- Demonstrates effectiveness in assisting departmental leaders with preparing their annual department budgets, addressing capital equipment, personnel, inventories, supplies, and other departmental costs; institutional priorities, and reimbursement constraints are considered in budget preparations.
- Develops QA metrics are developed and made visible to all staff and stakeholders.
- Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies and codes, including: The Joint Commission (TJC), Department of Health (DHS), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
- Serves as the Safety Committee chair for the hospital and clinics.
- Serves as Chapter chair for The Joint Commission EOC chapter.
- Maintains compliance with all applicable external agency regulations and the Corporate Compliance program.
- Follows up on the recommendations or deficiencies resulting from a survey/inspection and works to resolve within the time frames established by the regulatory agency.
Policies and Procedures
- Oversees that policies and procedures are developed and reviewed and address operational, intradepartmental, management, administrative, and regulatory responsibilities.
- Develops and fosters effective collaborative relationships with key stakeholders.
- Provides mentorship and feedback to departmental staff.
- Ensures staff evaluations are compliant with Hospital policies.
- Represents Hospital brand in accordance with Hospitals’ Mission in all job-related settings.
Leadership
- Able to motivate and guide others to work hard by building a sense of teamwork and commitment within department and across organization.
- Includes clear communication of the SHC-VC C-I-Care Values.
- Participates in hospital-wide patient care and operational activities and daily conduct.
- Selects personnel for employment within the department(s) including promotions.
- Ensures appropriate orientation to the department(s) and develops strategy to support employee engagement within the department.
- Mentors and develops staff.
- Represents Hospital brand in accordance with Hospitals’ Mission in all job-related settings.
Qualifications
- Baccalaureate Degree in Business or Health Care required.
- Masters Degree in Business or Health Administration preferred.
- 5-7 years of related operational experience, with progressive levels of responsibility, required.
- Certified HealthCare Facility Manager (CHFM), preferred.
