About the role
We are seeking a Director, EHS to join our team. This role will provide safety and occupational health thought leadership and oversight across multiple EMCOR companies.
Responsibilities
- Support the development, planning, and implementation of safety and other related policies and procedures for 5-10 companies with 3,000 to 6,000 employees.
- Monitor assigned companies to ensure compliance with company policies and local, state, and federal workplace regulations.
- Provide support to ensure safety documentation and required recordkeeping is maintained.
- Assist assigned companies Safety leadership with analysis, development, and implementation of action plans.
- Review assigned companies incident management process, data and related actions for effectiveness.
- Monitor hazards and make recommendations for incident prevention to operating company leadership.
- Monitor and assist with the implementation of applicable EMCOR safety, quality, productivity, fleet management, or other initiatives.
- Review incident reports for assigned companies for completeness, accuracy and effectiveness and help guide operating company leadership to identify and implement corrective actions.
- Often have many special projects, examples include: update, revise, and develop leadership focused program offerings, integrated with SQP goals and resources, to deliver and work with designated EMCOR companies; assist in the assessment, delivery and follow up of shop safety/productivity reviews; aid in the identification and dissemination of good work practice, productivity advantages, innovations and other business enhancing practices; assist in the implementation of new or existing systems and programs which may include software, fleet related programs, business continuity or other programs; assist in the integration of new acquisitions as required; embed in designated companies, segments or market sectors to assist in SQP related change implementation in concert with other assigned SQP leadership.
Qualifications
- B.A./B.S. or equivalent trade experience required, BCSP or other certifications such as CSP, CHST, CESCP, etc. or ability to obtain such certifications is a plus.
- 10 years minimum leadership experience in addressing and reducing risk in a dynamic, hazardous, and labor-intensive industry.
- Desirable examples include but are not limited to: mechanical or electrical construction, mobile mechanical services, industrial maintenance or construction, site-based facilities services or the associated trades (electricians, plumbers, pipefitters, welders, sprinkler fitters, sheet metal, HVAC, building maintenance etc.), manufacturing, military or other deployable skilled labor force.
- Strong knowledge of, or ability to gain knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental health and safety regulations and practices in construction and general industry applications.
- Strong understanding of business processes.
- Strong interpersonal, management, communication, writing, and organizational skills.
- Experience with and discipline to operate independently with little day-to-day supervision.
- Experience planning and managing extensive travel and related logistics.
- Experience with and ability to interact with others effectively through virtual means (MS Teams, Webex, Zoom).
- Experience with MS 365 applications.
- Extensive travel of 60-80% to operating companies in various locations.
