About the Role

North Highland, a leading change and transformation consultancy, is seeking a Director, Enterprise Architect - Transportation Systems to join our Technology Practice. This role will drive system modernization programs, enterprise architecture initiatives, and complex technology implementations for clients across public and private sectors. Candidates can be located anywhere in the US.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute enterprise architecture strategies aligning business and IT objectives, including current/future state architecture, migration roadmaps, and integration of emerging technologies (cloud, AI, microservices).
  • Advise clients on digital transformation, legacy system migration, and application modernization using best practices and innovative solutions.
  • Lead large-scale technology implementation and modernization programs in public sector, Medicaid enterprise systems, financial services, healthcare, and commercial industries.
  • Oversee multidisciplinary teams (architects, engineers, project managers, business analysts, testers) to deliver complex programs on time and within budget.
  • Engage with C-level executives to shape technology vision, drive strategic planning, and ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Mentor consulting talent and foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to business development by identifying opportunities, leading proposals, and supporting go-to-market initiatives.
  • Represent North Highland as a thought leader through industry presentations, publications, and client workshops.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in technology consulting, with a focus on enterprise architecture, system modernization, and technology implementation, preferably in a Transportation System Environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership in consulting environments, including experience as a Director, Managing Director, or equivalent.
  • Strong familiarity with Transportation Programs (e.g., Airports, DOTs, Tolling/Back Office, Transit) and regulatory initiatives.
  • Deep expertise in public and private sectors across multiple industries.
  • Proven track record of delivering large-scale, complex technology programs, including legacy modernization, cloud migration, and digital transformation.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman), application lifecycle management, and modern technology stacks (cloud, microservices, AI, data platforms).
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing multi-million-dollar budgets.
  • Experience with organic growth and acquisition-driven integration in consulting or technology services.
  • Exceptional client relationship and stakeholder management skills, with executive-level influence.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and thought leadership abilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree or certifications (TOGAF, SAFe, PMP, Scrum Master, Product Owner) strongly preferred.
  • Expertise in business process reengineering, business rule extraction, and operational transformation.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), data analytics, and generative AI solution delivery.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
