Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee a portfolio of employee benefit plan audit engagements, including 401(k), 403(b), defined benefit, profit‑sharing, and other retirement and welfare benefit plans.
  • Provide overall engagement leadership from planning through completion, ensuring efficiency and compliance with professional standards.
  • Review complex audit workpapers, financial statements, and related reporting; resolve significant accounting, auditing, and compliance matters.
  • Serve as a technical resource on employee benefit plan matters, including ERISA, Department of Labor (DOL), IRS, U.S. GAAP, and applicable auditing standards.
  • Advise clients on complex employee benefit plan audit and compliance matters and communicate recommendations to senior management and plan fiduciaries.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, plan sponsors, third‑party administrators, recordkeepers, and other industry professionals.
  • Manage engagement economics, including staffing, budgets, realization, scheduling, and overall profitability.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and career development to Managers, Supervisors, Seniors, and Associates within the practice.
  • Participate in recruiting, training, performance management, and staff development initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Partners and other firm leaders on quality control, risk management, and practice management matters.
  • Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships and contribute to business development and new client initiatives.
  • Represent the firm through industry organizations, professional networking, presentations, and other marketplace activities.
  • Remain current on regulatory, accounting, and auditing developments affecting employee benefit plans and communicate relevant changes to clients and team members.
  • Assist Partners with the strategic growth and continued development of the Employee Benefit Plan Audit practice.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Must be able to work in the office three days per week.
  • Approximately 10+ years of progressive public‑accounting audit experience, with substantial experience in employee benefit plan audits.
  • CPA license strongly preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP, GAAS, ERISA, DOL requirements, and employee benefit plan auditing standards.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex engagements and multiple client relationships.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop professional staff at various levels.
  • Strong technical accounting and auditing skills with sound professional judgment.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Strong client‑service and relationship‑management abilities.
  • Ability to identify business‑development opportunities and contribute to practice growth.
  • Strong organizational and project‑management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis; the firm cannot provide visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $100,000 – $150,000, dependent upon role specifics, office location, qualifications, experience, skills, and certifications.
