Our Power Systems Engineering team delivers comprehensive solutions across the full asset lifecycle — from power system studies and conceptual design to commissioning, startup, and ongoing asset management — helping customers modernize aging infrastructure and plan for future growth.

About the role

This is a rare opportunity to build and lead a power systems studies practice at a company experiencing real momentum — with recent growth expanding our engineering capabilities and footprint into high-demand markets like data centers and renewables. You'll step into a senior technical authority role with genuine influence: setting standards, shaping methodology, and mentoring the next generation of power systems engineers, while working across some of the most technically demanding and mission-critical infrastructure projects in the industry.

Location: Dallas Area, TX
Salary: $175,000 - $200,000 per year

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

  • Provide technical direction and oversight for all power system studies, including:
    • Load flow and short-circuit studies
    • Arc flash hazard analysis
    • Transient stability and dynamic studies
    • Protection and coordination studies
    • Harmonics, grounding, and insulation coordination
  • Establish and maintain technical standards, methodologies, and quality control processes.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for complex or high-risk projects.
  • Review and approve technical deliverables prior to client issuance.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of electrical engineers and power systems analysts.
  • Oversee hiring, performance management, training, and succession planning within the group.
  • Promote a culture of technical excellence, safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Project & Operational Management

  • Oversee project planning, staffing, scheduling, and resource utilization for the power studies group.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Support resolution of technical, schedule, and scope issues.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and drive operational efficiency.

Business Development & Client Engagement

  • Support business development through proposal development, technical presentations, and client meetings.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, utilities, EPCs, and developers.
  • Identify growth opportunities in emerging markets (renewables, energy storage, data centers, grid modernization, etc.).
  • Represent the firm in industry forums, conferences, and professional organizations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Master's preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • 12+ years of experience in power systems engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Deep expertise in power system studies and utility/industrial standards (IEEE, ANSI, NEC, NESC, IEC).
  • Proficiency with industry software such as ETAP, SKM, PSCAD, PSS®E, DigSILENT, or similar.
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and complex projects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with renewable energy interconnections and grid-scale energy storage.
  • Experience working directly with utilities and system operators.
  • Demonstrated success in business development and client management.
  • Publications, presentations, or recognized industry leadership.
