Director, Early Childhood Programs

About the role

The County of Santa Barbara is seeking a full-time employee in Santa Maria to provide alcohol and other drug abuse prevention and training programs. This position also involves contract administration, technical assistance, and treatment services.

Responsibilities

• Treatment Services:
  • Conducts pre-placement screenings and addiction assessments.
  • Provides trainings for non-profit and public agencies.
  • Evaluates client outcomes.
  • Provides back-up coverage for other staff.
• Employment Standards:
  • Bachelor's degree in health or social sciences or closely related field with two years of relevant experience.
  • Master's degree in health or social sciences or closely related field with one year of relevant experience.
  • A combination of education and experience meeting the requirements above.

Qualifications

• Certification: Not required at time of application but must obtain within five years.
• Driver’s License: Required for some positions.

Skills

• Survey methods and data collection techniques.
• Teaching methods related to health education and disease prevention.
• Community resources for alcohol and drug abuse prevention, intervention, or treatment.
• Alcohol and drug abuse screening, assessment, or community planning tools and processes.
• Grant writing procedures.
• Standard English usage and grammar.
