About the role

The Director of Database Administration at Fidelity Investments Workplace Investing will lead a team of experienced DBAs to drive strategic database initiatives that support business strategies both in the US and globally. This role is highly visible and dynamic, focusing on maintaining critical platforms with a global operating model. The Director will ensure operational excellence and the resilience, security, and scalability of databases. The team supports a diverse set of complex and critical databases serving various businesses.

Responsibilities

• Set database strategy and drive operational excellence.
• Ensure resilient, secure, and scalable databases for Workplace Investing.
• Accountable for team performance and production stability.
• Direct a team with 24x7 production support and active incident management.
• Operationalize solutions and ideas into standard operating procedures.

Requirements

• Deep expertise in enterprise database operations across Oracle, Postgres, Yugabyte, Aerospike, SQL Server, and SQL MI.
• Expertise and hands-on knowledge in performance tuning, scripting, and automation.
• Strong leadership in TLM, including patching and end-of-life software management.
• Demonstrated experience hiring, mentoring, and coaching junior DBAs.
• Knowledge and expertise in on-prem, cloud, and hybrid DBA operations.
