About the role

We are expanding our AI Solutions capability and are seeking a Director, Data Science & AI to lead the design and delivery of production-grade AI solutions from our Austin hub. The Director will lead the technical direction for the Consumer & Retail data science team, manage a team of data scientists, and oversee the development of AI applications that solve real client problems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and architecture of complex AI solutions, evaluating alternative approaches and setting technical standards for production-grade AI development
  • Manage a team of data scientists, providing coaching, mentorship, and performance management, and fostering a culture of curiosity and continuous learning
  • Oversee end-to-end delivery of AI solutions from design through to production deployment, balancing technical excellence with commercial pragmatism
  • Contribute to technical scoping, effort estimation, and client presentations during pre-sales, translating complex AI concepts into business value
  • Shape the direction of the AI Solutions team, identify opportunities for reusable components, and stay connected to the wider AI ecosystem

Requirements

  • 7+ years' experience in data science, AI/ML solution delivery, or technical consulting, with a track record of leading teams to deliver production-grade AI/ML solutions
  • Strong Python skills and practical experience building with frameworks like LangChain or LangGraph, with a deep understanding of GenAI and LLM applications
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), containerization, and cloud-native development
  • A track record of coaching and developing data scientists, building team capability and culture
  • Experience with effort estimation, scoping, and contributing to business development activities
  • Strong ability to translate technical concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Proven experience in leading data science projects and teams
  • Experience with machine learning and deep learning frameworks
  • Knowledge of cloud computing and containerization technologies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
