Job Summary

About the role

The Director, Data Platform & Services leads the team responsible for designing, building, and maintaining UVM Health's enterprise analytics data infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures analyst and engineering teams are achieving the priority needs of the organization with efficient, high-performing processes.
  • Enforces an agile development methodology with well-documented data pipelines, strong job monitoring processes, and a robust focus on data uptime and quality.
  • Serves as senior solution architect, making final design decisions to support a robust, scalable, and supportable data platform.
  • Enforces data governance, researches new technologies and works with leadership to fund and plan for implementation, manages strategic vendor partnerships, and enables AI tools such as Copilot and natural language querying of the data platform.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering, data platform leadership, or related roles.
  • 5+ years in a management role.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure, or similar cloud data platform technologies.
  • Prominent experience building and managing agile data engineering teams.
  • Experience managing technology vendor relationships, contracts, and budgets.
  • Experience serving as a senior solution architect for enterprise-scale data platforms.
  • Experience working in agile product delivery preferred.

Qualifications

  • Proven track record of successful project management and leadership.
  • Strong understanding of data architecture, data modeling, and data warehousing principles.
  • Experience with data integration, ETL processes, and data quality management.
  • Knowledge of data security best practices and compliance standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
