Title: Director Data Engineering Location: Onsite in Chicago 1 day a week Duration: 2 Months Director needs PT/ 20hours a week. Director Data Engineering As a Director of Data Engineering, you will lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable data platforms that power enterprise-wide analytics, AI, and digital transformation initiatives. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to architect and optimize data solutions, ensuring high performance, security, and reliability. Your Impact Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of enterprise data platforms, ensuring scalability, performance, and security. Define and drive the data engineering strategy, aligning with business objectives and technology roadmaps. Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to develop data-driven solutions. Optimize data pipelines, ETL processes, and data workflows to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Implement best practices for data governance, compliance, and security. Evaluate and integrate cutting-edge data technologies, such as cloud-based data platforms, data lakes, and real-time analytics. Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning. Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of data engineering initiatives. Partner with senior leadership to influence data strategy and drive business impact through data-driven decision-making. Skills & Experience 12+ years of experience in data engineering, with a strong background in building and managing data platforms. Expertise in cloud-based data solutions, such as AWS, GCP, or Azure. Proven experience in designing and implementing data architectures, data lakes, and data warehouses. Strong knowledge of big data technologies, including Spark, Hadoop, and Kafka. Hands-on experience with SQL, NoSQL, and in-memory databases. Deep understanding of data governance, compliance, and security best practices. Experience with real-time data processing, streaming analytics, and event-driven architecture. Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop high-performing teams. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on driving business value through data. Set Yourself Apart With Experience in AI/ML data pipelines and model deployment. Certifications in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and big data technologies. Strong expertise in data visualization tools, such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
