About the role

The Director, Controller will lead and manage the accounting, compliance, SOX, and audit activities within the Automation & Motion Control (AMC) Segment. The role will ensure consistent accounting practices are followed across all business locations to ensure segment financial information is timely, accurate, and compliant with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Responsibilities

  • Establish, document, and maintain accounting policies and procedures that drive consistency and provide influential guidance across the Segment.
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP, IFRS, and other applicable local laws and regulations.
  • Lead the implementation of new US GAAP accounting standards, collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure operational readiness and compliance.
  • Lead all complex US GAAP areas, including but not limited to revenue recognition, standard costing, goodwill impairment analysis, lease accounting, and other corporate initiatives as needed.
  • Manage the close process to ensure completion and accuracy of all accounting activities, tasks, and procedures inclusive of journal entries and key account reconciliations.
  • Manage the Balance Sheet and Income Statement reviews for the Segment, including the identification of key drivers that will improve compliance and influence financial performance.
  • Partner with operational leaders across the Segment to provide valuable insights that drive performance through bridging the gap between finance and business strategy.
  • Drive completion of all internal and external audits. Leads identification of root causes and remediation plans while ensuring all findings and process improvements are closed timely.
  • Own, manage, and maintain standard application of accounting schedules, compliance of company accounting policies, and SOX compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and advise on solutions to improve processes across the Segment.
  • Support the continued transfer of work to the shared service organization.
  • Maintain ongoing professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Train, develop, and support accounting staff across the Segment on policy adherence, changes in accounting standards, and best practices.
  • Establish and roll out pipeline planning initiatives for the Segment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; advanced degree preferred in Accounting or MBACPA is required.
  • 8+ years of relevant and progressive accounting/finance experience within an Industrial or Global Manufacturing Organization, including leadership roles.
  • 2+ years of public accounting experience required.
  • Strong understanding and practical working knowledge of US GAAP; strong understanding of Standard Cost Accounting and Revenue Recognition standards is highly preferred.
  • Strong leadership, management, and team building skills.
  • Demonstrated track record of building rapport and cohesiveness within the team.
  • Commitment to coaching and mentoring staff to enhance the proficiency, competencies and long-term development of the team.
  • Dedicated to building a work environment with high standards of performance but where team members feel engaged and supported.
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to quickly establish a personal brand within the organization to drive cross functional collaboration and influence resources outside one’s direct responsibility.
  • Ability to focus on the overall objective for a given process or accounting area, while at the same time being able to dive into transactional detail if needed to resolve questions or issues.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify high level business and operational trends, with ability to review transactional details (as needed) to support problem solving.
  • Curious mindset that proactively seeks understanding and feedback.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking to problem solving by identifying trends and themes to drive continuous improvement across the function.
  • Ability to overcome obstacles, and change direction if needed, to achieve business objectives.
  • Experience with Oracle ERP system, Hyperion and OneStream is strongly preferred.
  • Must have strong experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Motivated by and thrives in a fast-paced environment with ability to assess and effectively rank priorities to allocate resources to highest impact objectives.
  • Ability to work across cultures, divisions, segments, and functions seamlessly.

Pay

Expected Base Salary Range: $132,000 - $205,600
