The Director Construction is a senior leadership position responsible for leading the construction program and providing strategic direction for capital projects across showrooms, manufacturing facilities, distribution centers, sales and service centers, and corporate locations.
Responsibilities
- Lead the construction project portfolio by establishing priorities, allocating resources, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with business goals.
- Manage, coach, and develop a team of Construction Managers while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
- Establish project management standards, governance, reporting, and performance measures that promote consistent execution across all construction projects.
- Partner with senior leaders to develop capital plans, evaluate project priorities, and align construction initiatives with operational needs and long-term facility strategies.
- Oversee project budgets, schedules, risk management, and resource planning while providing executive-level updates on project performance, financial results, and emerging issues.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors, architects, engineers, consultants, and vendors to support successful project delivery and informed decision-making.
- Ensure construction activities comply with company standards, safety requirements, building codes, regulatory requirements, and quality expectations while minimizing operational disruption.
- Identify opportunities to improve construction processes, vendor performance, project delivery methods, and team capabilities to increase efficiency and strengthen project outcomes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent education and/or experience.
- 10+ years relevant experience or equivalent education and/or experience.
- 5+ years of management experience.
