About the role
THE·TEAM is seeking an experienced communications leader to drive earned and owned communications for the Brands & Properties business unit. This role will develop and execute a communications strategy that amplifies the business unit’s priorities, expertise, client work, and people across relevant channels. The successful candidate will identify stories and opportunities to strengthen visibility and reputation while providing strategic communications counsel to leadership. The role operates in close partnership with THE·TEAM’s centralized Corporate Communications team, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy, narrative, and standards.
Responsibilities
- Own and execute the Brands & Properties communications strategy across earned and owned channels, aligned with enterprise priorities and standards.
- Partner with Brands & Properties leadership to identify stories, expertise, client work, and executive perspectives for internal and external amplification.
- Lead media relations for the business unit, including proactive storytelling, media outreach, incoming requests, interview preparation, and executive visibility.
- Develop and manage owned communications across relevant channels, including editorial content, executive communications, speaking opportunities, awards, and key industry moments.
- Serve as the primary communications partner between Brands & Properties and the centralized Corporate Communications team, ensuring alignment on messaging, timing, and execution.
- Surface Brands & Properties stories, work, and expertise into broader THE·TEAM communications and identify opportunities for integrated storytelling across the enterprise.
- Collaborate with corporate communications, marketing, and social media teams to ensure holistic and consistent storytelling.
- Bring relevant enterprise narratives, priorities, and initiatives into Brands & Properties and support their activation within the business unit.
- Maintain a forward-looking communications calendar and pipeline of priority stories, moments, and opportunities while tracking activity and outcomes.
Requirements
- 8+ years of proven experience in the marketing, advertising, entertainment, and/or sports industry securing national earned media coverage.
- Vast media relationships, ideally in sports business, marketing, advertising, and entertainment, with national outlets.
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in public relations, communications, journalism, or a related field.
- Strong writing and editing capabilities.
- Knowledge of the global media landscape, including written, broadcast, and audio platforms.
- General knowledge of the sports, business, marketing, and entertainment industries.
- Awareness of industry trends.
- Agency experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities under strict deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and highly organized.
- Demonstrated loyalty and trustworthiness with organizations and clients.
- Well-developed problem-solving skills.
Pay
Base salary range: $110,000–$150,000, plus bonus potential if applicable. Actual base salary depends on factors including market dynamics, location, experience, specialized skills, level of responsibility, and budgetary considerations.
