About the role

UTA seeks a strategic and action-oriented Director, Communications, to join the KLUTCH Sports Group team. This role is part of KLUTCH Sports Group’s business and client-focused communications team, reporting to the Vice President, Communications. You will develop and execute communications strategies, media relations, earned media, and impactful storytelling for KLUTCH, UTA, and its clients. Based in Beverly Hills, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Creates and executes comprehensive media strategies to promote and drive awareness of KLUTCH’s global partnerships, brand advisory, and data and insights practices.
  • Leads global football communications and supports WNBA, NIL, NFL, and NBA clients, agents, and executives year-round.
  • Oversees and manages corporate, business, and internal communications functions, including speaking opportunities, lists, awards, and related submissions.
  • Secures premium opportunities and placements for KLUTCH/UTA executives, agents, and employees to drive agency-wide business goals and increase awareness of KLUTCH/UTA announcements, events, and partnerships.
  • Works closely with KLUTCH/UTA leadership, executives, and agents to craft holistic messaging and drive targeted narratives internally and externally.
  • Manages and supports the work of junior colleagues across departments and leads the creation of pitches, press releases, media advisories, newsletters, memos, talking points, social copy, and other internal and external messaging.
  • Serves as a spokesperson and representative for KLUTCH/UTA and leads media relations efforts for marquee entertainment and sporting events, including community events, draft events, all-star events, red carpets, awards shows, media days, and conferences.
  • Refines and manages communications department systems and processes for media monitoring, media training, amplification strategies, content creation, templates, and digital assets.

Requirements

  • 8-10 years’ experience in public relations, communications, journalism, and/or marketing in-house, at an agency, or both.
  • Experience working with professional sports leagues, athletes, teams, public figures, brands, agencies, and/or media companies.
  • Extensive knowledge of and proficiency in media relations, business/corporate communications, internal communications, and crisis communications.
  • Experience collaborating with multiple partners on high-profile events, campaigns, and public announcements.
  • Excellent professional writing and editing skills, and ability to communicate efficiently and clearly when public speaking, presenting, and pitching.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills; resourcefulness and the ability to handle high-pressure situations with poise, professionalism, and confidence while operating in service-oriented and client-facing environments.
  • Highly proficient in creating holistic campaigns, securing national stories and news items across television, print, and online media, and maintaining and building relationships with a variety of national journalists, sports, business, and trade media, and producers and bookers.
  • Detail-oriented, creative, curious, and organized, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, manage projects, and collaborate with clients, public figures, and key stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with people from a range of diverse backgrounds, work styles, and cultures.
  • Demonstrated computer and digital proficiency (MS Office, BOX, Canva, Google apps, etc.) and fluency in most social media platforms and PR tools (Cision, Muckrack, etc.).

Pay

The salary range for this role is $150,000 to $175,000.
