Director Clinical Documentation Integrity System
Job Description
Develops and executes the strategic vision for Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) across the organization. Promotes clear, concise, complete, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation supporting the patient's severity of illness and quality of care. Provides leadership, guidance, and support to Regional or Division CDI Directors and the corporate CDI team. Oversees the development and management of the enterprise CDI software platform(s). Manages concurrent and retrospective review processes to ensure accurate documentation. Facilitates effective provider communication and education regarding CDI practices. Leads the Quality and Safety Review Process to ensure documentation reflects quality and safety measures. Recommends appropriate CDI staffing levels and roles. Collaborates with revenue cycle coding leadership to ensure documentation informs quality and safety measures and appropriate reimbursement. Develops educational materials and training programs for Clinical Documentation specialists. Monitors and analyzes metrics and KPIs to reflect best practice processes and outcomes. Implements system dashboards to provide insight into CDI program performance.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Expertise in industry practice and standards of Clinical Documentation and Coding
- Certification by relevant professional societies in Clinical documentation
- Clinical experience and expertise as a licensed health care provider
- Knowledge of Clinical quality and safety standards and reporting
- Knowledge and familiarity with leading analytics in the clinical documentation field
- Knowledge of Hospital reimbursement models and trends
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Able to effectively express ideas and views through public speaking, presentations, reports, and professional correspondence
- Exceptional people management, leadership skills and the capacity to relate to people in a manner that wins confidence and establishes support

- Master's [Preferred]
- Field Of Study Bachelor's Degree Required Master's Degree in business or health related field Preferred
Work Experience
- 10+ years demonstrated leadership experience including at least 5 years clinical documentation leadership [Required]
- 5+ years’ experience as a clinical documentation specialist in the acute care setting [Required]
- Experience in acute care Clinical Coding [Preferred]
- Demonstrated involvement in professional organizations such as Association of Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialists [Preferred]
