Job Summary and Qualifications

This position supports the mission of Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center to optimize the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person. The Director of Cellular Therapy and Transplant Services provides strategic, operational, and clinical leadership for the Cellular Therapy Program, including Apheresis/Collections, Cell Processing and Cryopreservation, and the FACT-accredited program infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic, operational, and clinical leadership for the Cellular Therapy Program, including Apheresis/Collections, Cell Processing and Cryopreservation, and the FACT-accredited program infrastructure.
  • Serves as the FACT Cellular Therapy Facility Director and Collection Program Director, with responsibility for ensuring full compliance with Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT), FDA, and Joint Commission standards, while advancing a high-reliability, patient-centered cellular therapy program.
  • Oversees all departmental operations, directs clinical and technical services, and serves as a key liaison between physicians, nursing, laboratory leadership, and executive leadership.
  • Provides executive oversight of staffing models, financial performance, and program development, including responsibility for budgeting, workforce planning, and operational optimization.
  • Establishes program priorities, identifies growth opportunities, and ensures alignment with organizational strategy, including expansion of transplant and cellular therapy services (e.g., CAR-T and emerging therapies).
  • Fosters a culture of accountability, clinical excellence, and continuous improvement, while maintaining strong visibility with staff, patients, and families.
  • Ensures adherence to the Cellular Therapy quality plan, directs SOP development and validation processes, and maintains audit readiness at all times.
  • Ensures integration and coordination across clinical, collection, and processing services, with direct accountability for programmatic outcomes, patient safety, and regulatory performance.
  • Maintains current knowledge of advancements in cellular therapy, transplant services, and regulatory requirements through ongoing professional development.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by executive leadership.

Position Requirements

  • Licensure/Certification/Registration: Medical Technologist certification by one of the following: ASCP, NCA, or HEW (ISCLT). BLS required.
  • Education: Bachelor of science or related field required (Chemistry, Biology, etc). Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience: 5 years’ experience required in bone marrow harvest and cell processing/cryopreservation. Preferred experience in therapeutic apheresis stem cell collection.
  • Special Qualifications: Supervises CT Medical Technologists by integrating current scientific knowledge with technical competency. The CT Manager shall be technically current and theoretically knowledgeable of instruments, patient/donor collections and processing. Demonstrates knowledge and responsibility for the ongoing Continuous Quality Improvement.
