Director, Biostatistics, Early Phase
About the role
This position serves as the lead statistician for oncology studies, coordinating activities with other functional groups to ensure timely deliverables. You will represent biostatistics on study/project teams, providing statistical expertise for the design, analysis, and reporting of clinical studies.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with various functions on study design and planning, protocol development, statistical methodology, and analysis.
- Develop statistical analysis plans and analysis specifications.
- Collaborate with statistical programming to ensure analysis is conducted per the statistical plan and specifications.
- Work with data management and clinical operations to ensure robust database development and quality data collection.
- Provide statistical input to regulatory interactions and responses to health authority submissions.
- Collaborate on publications, assist in data interpretation, and ensure consistency and accuracy in data presentation.
- Contribute to the development of functional-level standards, SOPs, and templates.
- Stay abreast of new developments in statistics, drug development, and regulatory guidance, and share knowledge with team members.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or M.S. in Statistics/Biostatistics.
- Minimum of 8 years (for Ph.D.) or 12 years (for M.S.) of experience in the biotech/pharma industry as a statistician for clinical trials.
- Hands-on experience in the design and analysis of oncology trials is required.
- Proficiency in SAS and/or R.
Skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Ability to apply statistical knowledge to solve real-world problems and acquire new knowledge in advanced statistical methods (e.g., Bayesian methods, predictive modeling).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and project management skills.
Pay
The base pay salary range for this full-time position for candidates working onsite at our headquarters in Redwood City, CA is $211,000 - $264,000 USD. The range will be adjusted for the local market if applicable. Individual base pay salary is determined by job-related skills, experience, market dynamics, and relevant education or training.
