Director, Autonomy Perception

About the role

For our client, we are seeking a Director Autonomy Perception to join the team of a leader in the Manufacturing & Automotive space. This role will lead operational priorities focused on execution quality, efficiency, safety, and measurable performance outcomes. You will collaborate with field leadership, support functions, and cross-functional stakeholders to improve accountability, service delivery, and operational consistency. The position offers the opportunity to influence operational scale, customer outcomes, and organizational performance within a manufacturing environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $220,000 – $300,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Lead the vision and strategy for the Autonomy Perception team
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to tackle perception challenges
• Innovate and improve perception technology focused on object detection and tracking
• Ensure efficiency of core perception technologies in commercial use
• Design next-generation sensor systems to enhance performance
• Set and track key performance indicators for autonomy progress
• Manage the planning and execution of complex technical projects

Qualifications

• 10+ years of engineering experience in autonomous systems or robotics
• PhD or Master's degree in a relevant technical field such as robotics, computer science, or engineering
• Proven success in solving complex autonomy problems as a senior engineer or director
• 7+ years of software-focused experience in robotics systems
• Experience managing a team of 10+ engineers in a high-pressure environment
• Demonstrated ability to develop and deploy innovative autonomous vehicle solutions
