Director AI Platform Engineering

About the role

For our client, we are seeking a Director AI Platform Engineering to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space. This leader will own the strategy and execution for enterprise AI platform capabilities that support governance, orchestration, and operational reliability at scale. The role will oversee the infrastructure, controls, and production workflows that enable responsible AI adoption across the organization. In addition, this leader will partner closely with engineering, risk, and business stakeholders to build secure, observable, and high-performing AI systems in a complex enterprise environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of core infrastructure for enterprise AI governance
• Design and operate AI control and orchestration infrastructure
• Manage the Developer Portal and AI Registry in production
• Oversee Policy Engine infrastructure and workflows
• Implement observability and audit capabilities across AI systems
• Establish an operational AI Gateway that meets latency targets
• Scale the engineering team through hiring and resource reallocation

Qualifications

• 8+ years in technical platform, infrastructure, or AI/ML engineering roles in a large enterprise
• 4+ years leading and managing engineering teams
• Strong mentoring and coaching track record
• Experience leading through change and ambiguity
• Multi-cloud fluency, with AWS and Azure preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field; Master's preferred
• Relevant cloud or AI certifications are an asset

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $150,700 – $261,800 annually
