About the role

The company is an established biopharmaceutical firm expanding its IT function as the business grows. It is establishing a new Director, Enterprise Architecture position under the CIO, aiming to establish an independent, enterprise-wide architecture voice across all IT operations. This role is crucial as the company evaluates its core ERP/HRIS and CRM systems and defines how AI and agency capabilities will be integrated into its technology roadmap.

Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve enterprise architecture standards, principles, and governance across applications, data, integration, and infrastructure, building reusable patterns and reference architecture so knowledge remains within the organization.
  • Act as the connective architecture authority across the IT function, ensuring platform and integration choices do not create fragmentation or duplicate technology.
  • Establish and lead a disciplined technology investment and architecture review process for major platform and vendor decisions.
  • Translate the company's AI and data strategy priorities into concrete architecture requirements, including data model implications and the platform capabilities needed to support AI and agency workflows.
  • Partner with the emerging enterprise AI strategy effort to ensure architecture decisions align with business investments in AI.
  • Score and evaluate platform and vendor options based on AI-readiness criteria, providing input to major platform decisions, including ERP/HRIS and CRM evaluations.
  • Define integration architecture and standards across ERP, CRM, HRIS, and data platforms, collaborating with the data strategy team on the underlying data architecture and governance model.
  • Partner closely with IT leadership across the business and integrate architecture decisions into governance forums to provide the CIO with an independent architecture perspective.
  • Work with the CIO to define the case, scope, and hiring plan for growing an architecture team as implementation work scales, mentoring solution architects in the meantime.
  • Lead the ERP/HRIS assessment and CRM successor evaluation, ensuring both are architected as a cohesive backbone rather than chosen independently.
