Director, Advancement Information Technology
About the role
This individual provides overall vision, leadership, and management of all IT functions in OIT, college, school, or other major unit (e.g. library, finance) in support of instruction, research, outreach, and administrative needs. This includes planning, sourcing, and support of information technology as defined by the overall IT strategy of the University (Office of the CIO) and the unit.
Responsibilities
- Provides direction and support to a team of professionals who deliver IT services throughout Advancement.
- Works collaboratively with Advancement to initiate, develop, and apply tech-enabled strategies to support Auburn Advancement’s objectives.
- Promotes and applies modern business processes, setting elevated standards, and evolving technology support for Advancement.
- Develops and maintains an understanding of Advancement initiatives, functions, and activities so as to provide the best support for Advancement technology initiatives.
- Oversees the IT project management function. Establishes efficient project management standards to optimize project resources, improve quality, and reduce risk.
- Serves as the Information Security Officer of the Auburn University Foundation and therefore supervises the Foundation Information Security Manager role.
- Oversees all security-related efforts including penetration testing, firewall and related infrastructure management, and network traffic analysis; prioritizes mitigation strategies and communicates to leaders and stakeholders appropriately.
- Develops and evolves an accessible cloud strategy to support Advancement teamwork.
- Effectively communicates to all stakeholders on technology updates, including through change management initiatives.
- Effectively manages information technology-related budgets.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in no specific discipline.
- 7 years of expert level experience in one or more IT specialties to include Infrastructure Operations and Planning, Academic & Research Computing Support, or IT Service Support.
- Five or more years of experience in IT management (direct supervision of full-time employees), project planning and the budgeting process; experience developing support strategies for IT service to users in small to mid-sized unit.
