Director, Actuary Supplemental Health Pricing

About the role
Lincoln is a leading provider of Employer Benefits, and our Supplemental Health suite of Critical Illness, Hospital Indemnity, and Accident products are a fast-growing and strategically important component of our product strategy. We are seeking an experienced actuary to lead the strategic direction of this portfolio. Partnering with an established actuarial team, you will own the execution of our strategy for Supplemental Health and serve as the primary Pricing voice with Product, Distribution, Finance, and Operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of actuaries and actuarial students.
- Set the strategic direction for pricing assumptions and methodology.
- Collaborate with business partners in Product, Underwriting, Finance, Distribution, and Operations to execute upon our Supplemental Health business strategy.
- Oversee the regulatory pricing agenda, including state rate filings, minimum loss ratio compliance and reporting, and positioning of responses to Department of Insurance inquiries.
- Remain current and educate the organization on Supplemental Health pricing best practices.
- Lead cross-functional Supplemental Health initiatives by providing Pricing subject matter expertise.
- Partner with Pricing Strategy to establish broad new business and renewal targets, and translate those targets into product-level rate actions and segment positioning.
- Develop innovative strategies to drive targeted business results for key market segments.
- Monitor new sale profitability and renewal execution throughout the year and provide recommended changes where appropriate.
- Maintain strong relationships with key business partners throughout the organization and leverage those relationships to stay on top of emerging internal and external trends.
- Lead data-driven analysis to inform decision making.
- Provide training and development opportunities, including stretch assignments, for team members and give honest and open feedback to aid in the development of talent.
- Direct and evaluate individual/team performance and take appropriate action to meet and/or exceed performance standards for the Supplemental Health Pricing team.
- Establish and implement priorities, performance goals, and objectives to ensure results.
Requirements
- 4-year/Bachelor's degree (or equivalent).
- 5+ years of Supplemental Health pricing experience.
- FSA or ASA designation.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and analytical skills.
- Past history of managerial, supervisory, and/or demonstrated leadership experience is preferred.
- Experience managing a team of technical experts.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $108,501 - $195,900 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency, and qualifications required for the role.
