Director Activities Health Center

Location: Westminster Point Pleasant, Bradenton – a beautiful 5-star waterfront continuing care retirement community near downtown Bradenton.

About the role

Plan, develop, and direct the overall operation of the Health Center and ACLF activity departments in accordance with regulatory guidelines and established policies and procedures. Ensure an on-going program of activities is designed to meet the interests and abilities of each resident.

Responsibilities

• Plan and produce a monthly activity calendar and enter activities into the system.
• Complete MDS and Resident Care Plans by adding quarterly progress notes.
• Facilitate Resident Council Meetings and follow up on concerns or issues raised during the meetings.
• Plan and manage residents’ therapeutic recreation activities and entertainment.
• Manage and supervise the work of Activities Assistants.
• Prepare, plan, and submit budgets to the direct supervisor for activities coordinated by the department.
• Participate in fundraising and volunteering activities for the community.

Requirements

• Four-year degree in Therapeutic Recreation (or related area) preferred.
• Must be a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (or eligible for certification); or have an Occupational Therapy degree with an emphasis on ADRD; or be certified as an Activity Director.
• Experience in recreational and activities programs in long-term care within the past 2 years, dealing with independent older adults who have ADRD.
• Knowledge of event planning required.
• Knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease preferred.
• Knowledge of holiday traditions for the local community preferred.
• Must be able to work weekends.
