The Director of Accounting is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, financial reporting, and team development. This position serves as a key financial leader within the organization, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery of financial information while maintaining compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The successful candidate will develop and maintain robust accounting principles, policies, and systems that support the organization's rapid growth. This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage and mentor a growing accounting team while balancing strategic initiatives with operational excellence. What You Will Do Oversee all general accounting functions and financial reporting, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant delivery of financial statementsPrepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for accuracy, completeness, and GAAP complianceDevelop and maintain accounting policies and procedures that support effective financial management and operational efficiencyManage, mentor, and develop the accounting team through performance evaluations, goal setting, and ongoing trainingBuild a high-performing department by fostering accountability, continuous improvement, and strong employee engagementPartner with external auditors to facilitate efficient year-end closes and timely resolution of audit findingsCoordinate with finance leadership and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with reporting timelines and regulatory requirementsPerform ad hoc financial analysis and cost-benefit evaluations to support strategic business decisionsLead special projects as assigned, contributing financial insight to broader business initiativesIdentify and drive opportunities for process improvements, system enhancements, and cost optimization within the accounting function What You Should Have Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA license (or ability to obtain within one year of hire); 7+ years of progressive accounting experience in a leadership or supervisory capacityThorough, practical knowledge of U.S. GAAP with the ability to apply it to complex financial reporting scenariosProficiency with modern accounting systems and software, including advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, data analysis)Hands-on experience implementing, managing, or optimizing ERP systems such as Sage, NetSuite, or similar platformsStrong understanding of financial statement analysis, internal controls, and audit processesProven track record leading, mentoring, and developing accounting teams, with demonstrated ability to drive performance and resultsStrong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial information for diverse audiencesAbility to build collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders, external auditors, and financial partnersHighly organized and detail-oriented, able to manage multiple priorities independently while remaining a strong team playerDemonstrates integrity, confidentiality, and sound professional judgment when handling sensitive financial information Nice To Have Previous experience in construction, telecommunications, job costing, or service provider accountingHands-on experience with Sage software, including configuration, customization, reporting, and troubleshooting in a multi-entity or complex operating environmentExperience leading ERP system implementations, upgrades, or process improvements, including managing technical projects and vendor relationshipsExperience managing accounting operations during periods of rapid growth or organizational changeBackground with external audit coordination and SOX or compliance-related initiatives AAP/EEO Statement Centerline is an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
