About the role
The Director, Academic Development, has the primary responsibility for the long-term growth and development of ACDV 101, which is designed to be a key part of the students' Frist Year Experience and transition into college.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrated ability to deliver student-centered solutions within an educational setting.
- Ability to exercise discretion in decision-making based on best practices, technical expertise, and professional judgment.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Able to establish effective working relationships within and outside of CCBC.
- Strong organizational, time management, and data management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to carry out complex assignments.
- Ability to manage course scheduling and staffing, including the recruitment, assignment, and supervision of faculty.
- Ability to design curriculum and implement instructional best practices, including first-year experience and academic development courses.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate faculty and staff, including experience with hiring, mentoring, scheduling, and supporting professional growth.
- Ability to collect, analyze, and apply data to assess program effectiveness, inform improvements, and support student outcomes.
- Proficiency in using educational technology and data systems, such as learning management systems (LMS), customer relationship management (CRM) platforms, early alert systems, and advising tools.
- Problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities, particularly in addressing student issues, faculty concerns, and program challenges in a professional and collaborative manner.
- Ability to collaborate across the college to provide professional development and instructional resources to support students across their CCBC journey.
Requirements
- Master's degree and three (3) years of experience in post-secondary education required, preferably in a Community College.
- Experience with curriculum development, faculty professional development, or student success initiatives (e.g., first-year experience, advising, career pathways).
- Knowledge of best practices in student retention, first-year programs, academic development, and guided pathways.
- Two years of teaching experience preferred.
Qualifications
- Do you have a master's degree?
- Do you have three (3) years of experience in post-secondary education?
- Do you have experience working in a Community College?
