Directional Drill Operator

Responsibilities

• Operate Horizontal Directional Drill and other standard underground construction equipment.
• Set up equipment including the drill, water tanks, and grounding machines.
• Drill out following the predetermined drill path to the exit pit.
• Communicate with Supervisor daily to turn in required paperwork (i.e. Bore log, vehicle maintenance reports, etc.).
• Cleanup area post construction to county or state standards.
• Work with an equipment Ground-hand to place conduit and fiber underground, setting handholes and completing tie ins.
• Use equipment to install grounding rods and anchors.
• Ability to follow directions and instructions as given by management.
• Reverse process to install product.

Qualifications

• Be able to operate a variety of digging tools (Experience with Vermeer machines required).
• Strong knowledge of underground utilities.
• Accurately measure distances, using tapes or other measuring device.
• Have a High School diploma.
• Maintain a clean, courteous and professional demeanor.
• Be physically able to lift and move up to 75 pounds.
• Willing to work in all weather conditions.
• Working knowledge of DOT regulations (Vehicle and Operator Qualifications), etc.
• Have a valid state driver's license and a clean driving or safety record.
• Be able to work independently & efficiently to meet deadlines.
