Directiona Drill Operator
About the role
Hunt Electric, Inc. is seeking a Directional Drill Operator to join our team. The successful candidate will operate and maintain various types of directional drilling equipment, including Vermeer and/or Ditch Witch drills, vac trucks, mud trucks, excavators, forklifts, and dump trucks.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain directional drilling equipment (Vermeer and/or Ditch Witch).
- Drill in both standard and high-risk areas, including areas with live utilities.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures related to safety.
- Attend safety meetings and competency person training, MSHA, and OSHA.
- Read, understand, and follow company policies and procedures related to safety.
- Service maintenance includes washing, checking fluids, adjusting tire pressures, greasing, etc.
- Ensure proper and continuous maintenance of company assets in good repair and secure them in a safe manner.
- Read blueprints, identify marked utilities using Blue Stakes, and possess basic computer skills to develop and maintain bore logs.
- Show great math skills to support excavation requirements, which may involve basic hand tools.
- Organize material and other resources to meet excavation needs.
- Perform other duties or locations as assigned by the manager.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience operating a directional drill (Vermeer and/or Ditch Witch).
- Knowledge of utility depths and placement.
- Familiarity with construction practices and equipment, including routine service and maintenance.
- Valid Utah Class A CDL license with no restrictions.
- Clean driving record.
- Pass a background check.
