Direct Support Professional (Weekends Only)

About the role

The Direct Support Professional at Pathway to Possible works in a residential and overnight setting to support adults with developmental disabilities. The role involves providing supervision, counseling, and assisting with daily activities, while maintaining a safe and supportive environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and documentation of activities within P2P policies.
• Offer supportive counseling and intervention services as needed.
• Maintain shift coverage and support for residential clients.
• Monitor residents' compliance with daily expectations and service plans.
• Facilitate group discussions and coordinate social activities.
• Assist with resident appointments and meal preparation.
• Maintain daily logs and case records.
• Administer medications and maintain medication logs.
• Respond to client requests professionally and maintain confidentiality.
• Ensure participant safety and maintain a clean, organized environment.
• Perform daily maintenance and kitchen duties.
• Interact with other team members to maintain a cooperative environment.
• Provide reception duties and relay messages.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate degree or bachelor's degree preferred.
• 2-3 years of experience in a residential setting.
• Demonstrated ability to engage with clients with challenging behaviors.
• First Aid/CPR certified or willing to obtain certification within one month of hire.
• Ability to read, write, and document proficiently.
• Flexibility and team-player mentality.
• Professional demeanor and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Physical ability to lift up to 15 pounds, assist with transfers, and evacuate individuals.
• Valid Massachusetts driver’s license.
• CORI, SORI, and DPPC background clearances.
• Current MAP certification.
• Comfortable working with a therapeutic cat.
