About the role
The Residential Support Specialist position is full-time, 40 hours per week, and operates on a 2nd shift (2:45p to 11p). The role requires participation in an on-call staff rotation and works every other weekend on a rotation.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and/or assist residents with daily living activities.
- Supervise the self-administration of medication.
- Aid or prepare client resident meals.
- Provide knowledge of the individualized care plan for residents and support them according to the plan.
- Contribute to the care planning process by providing specific information and observations about the residents' needs and preferences.
- Organize, develop, and implement planned recreational/educational activities.
- Transport clients to appointments, social activities, etc., as assigned and in compliance with driving policies.
- Ensure the completion of all scheduled tasks, care of residents, and the facility (including maintenance and cleaning).
- Be available for back-up and emergency shift coverage as needed.
- Work a flexible schedule and may float to other locations to accommodate client or agency needs.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor's degree in human service field preferred.
- Experience working with severely mentally disabled population or similar population preferred.
- Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and insurability through Harbor’s vehicle insurance carrier for individuals working first and second shifts.
- Third shift will not require driving.
- CPR/First Aid and NCI/CPI Certifications required within 90 days of employment.
