Direct Support Professional - Residential Group Home - Full Time Overnight Shifts Tues - Fri
Tuesday - Friday, 11:15pm - 9:15am (40 hours, awake shift)
About the role
Bristol Adult Resource Center (BARC) is a non-profit organization supporting adult individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities by providing Residential, Vocational, Recreation, and Day Support Services. We are seeking professional, caring, and motivated Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our Residential Group Home Program. In this position, you will make an impactful and meaningful difference in someone else’s life every day by providing personal care, promoting personal growth, and helping individuals reach their goals through daily activities and community/social engagement. Applicants with no experience or seeking a career change are encouraged to apply—we will train the right candidates.
Responsibilities
- Provide opportunities for learning new skills and independence by working on individuals’ goals and plans.
- Transport individuals to and from programs and activities.
- Administer medications and treatments while meeting all guidelines and ensuring accurate documentation.
- Provide a safe and nurturing environment where individuals are treated with dignity, respect, can exercise their rights and responsibilities, and are protected from abuse or neglect.
- Electronically record daily activities while maintaining confidentiality and complying with all policies and procedures to protect identity, medical, and HIPAA information.
- Obtain and maintain all required certifications and trainings (in-person and online).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation.
Physical Efforts
- May include extended periods of standing, sitting, walking, with occasional stooping, crouching, or kneeling.
- Ability to independently lift at least 25 pounds, push/pull varying weight (e.g., wheelchairs), or safely transfer ~35 pounds.
