  • Monday 2:00 pm – 9:30 pm
  • Friday 2:30 pm – 11:00 pm
  • Saturday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
  • Sunday 8:00 am – 3:00 pm
  • 31 hours per week

About the role

Bristol Adult Resource Center (BARC) is a non-profit organization supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through Residential, Vocational, Recreation and Day Support Services. We are seeking professional, caring, and motivated Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to assist individuals in our Residential Group Home Program. In this role, you will make an impactful difference in the lives of others every day by supporting daily activities, personal care, and community participation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide opportunities for learning new skills and independence by working on individuals’ goals and plans
  • Transport individuals to and from programs and activities
  • Administer medications and treatments while meeting all guidelines and documenting accurately
  • Create a safe and nurturing environment where individuals are treated with dignity and respect, can exercise their rights, and are protected from abuse or neglect
  • Electronically record daily activities while maintaining confidentiality and complying with all policies and procedures to protect identity, medical, and HIPAA information
  • Obtain and maintain all required certifications and trainings (in person and online)
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation

Physical Efforts

  • Extended periods of standing, sitting, and walking
  • Occasional stooping, crouching, or kneeling
  • Ability to independently lift at least 25 pounds
  • Ability to push/pull varying weight (e.g., wheelchairs) or safely transfer approximately 35 pounds
