Direct Support Professional (PM Shift)
About the role
These positions are considered essential personnel and would be required to work in the event of an emergency or facility need. All SEVTC positions are required to work different shifts and/or overtime as requested.
Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with daily living activities, personal care, and support for mobility.
- Utilize behavior management strategies to support individuals exhibiting maladaptive behaviors.
- Provide emotional and behavioral support while promoting independence.
- Implement behavior intervention plans and work collaboratively with a support team.
- Foster a safe, structured, and positive environment.
Shift
2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
Shift differential is available: 2nd shift weekday $2.50/hr.; weekend $3.00/hr.
Training
All new hires must successfully complete the facility’s pre-service training program for Direct Support Professional Staff, which includes Person Centered Approach techniques, CPR/First Aid Certification, TOVA, medication administration, nutritional management and physical/behavioral management, for continued employment. Training in behavior management and crisis intervention is available. Preservice training class is 10 days long, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Requirements

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Active, valid driver’s license.
- Basic computer skills to include the ability to use keyboard, mouse and navigate an Electronic Health Record with minimum assistance after training.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job with or without reasonable accommodation, which includes standing, bending, walking, pushing/pulling, lifting up to 50 pounds, providing support during all aspects of daily personal care, and intervening with aggressive behaviors.
Qualifications
Successful completion of the facility’s pre-service training program, which includes CPR, First Aid, medication administration, nutritional management, and physical/behavioral management, is required for continued employment.
Ability to work collaboratively with co-workers, Residential Supervisors and/or Supervisors, Administrator on Duty (after-hour supervisors) and ID team members.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Prior experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism, and other disabilities.
- Prior experience working with medically fragile individuals.
- Prior experience as a Direct Support Professional, a Certified Nursing Assistant, or similar role.
- Demonstrated experience working with electronic medical records.
