About the role

The position involves overseeing and guiding each individual's Residential Habilitation Services Plan. Staff may be required to work holidays, weekends, and overnight shifts based on program needs and supervisor requests. The role aims to enhance service quality by supporting individuals and achieving the Arc of Livingston-Wyoming's mission and goals.

Responsibilities

  • Implement Residential Habilitation Services and Periodic Staff Supports as per ISP and Residential Habilitation Service Plan for each individual served
  • Ensure supervision meets IPOP, MHMMP, Behavior Support Plan and other applicable plans, implementing individual goals based on Service Plans
  • Supervise individuals based on physical/medical needs and according to the Individual Placement and Packaging (IPOP)
  • Adhere to the Direct Support Professional Code of Ethics and Core Competencies
  • Monitor and communicate medical needs to supervisor(s) and Community Services Registered Nurse
  • Become certified in medication administration and maintain certification annually
  • Administer medications as per Agency Policy and Procedure
  • Provide hands-on assistance for personal health care, including showering, bathing, oral hygiene, shaving, hair combing, toileting, nail care, changing protective underwear, etc.
  • Assist with dressing individuals in appropriate attire
  • Prepare and cook meals based on dietary needs
  • Maintain cleanliness of the home by completing cleaning tasks and maintaining tools/equipment
  • Wash, dry, and maintain personal clothing and bedding
  • Transport individuals to community resources and conduct fire drills
  • Support interpersonal relationships and provide transportation
  • Manage household budget and complete required paperwork
  • Drive Agency vehicles and complete transportation paperwork
  • Maintain open and positive communication with clients, advocates, family members, and other staff
  • Promote cooperation and successful interactions
  • Advocate for individual's needs, interests, and desires
  • Present professionally and assist with medical services as needed

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with geriatric and/or individuals with developmental disabilities, or CNA certification preferred
  • Valid NYS driver's license with a safe driving record per agency policy
