About the role

Passionate Personal Supports Counselor Wanted! Are you ready to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, with co-occurring disorders? Are you energetic, patient, and passionate about helping others build independent lives? We are looking for Personal Support Service Counselors to provide one-on-one mentorship and daily living support to young adults in Prince George's and Montgomery County.

Responsibilities

• Plan and participate in fun, meaningful and integrated community activities.
• Provide hands-on help with money management, literacy, health & wellness, and household tasks like meal prep.
• Help individuals transition from "Day Program" to active, engaged evening and weekend routines.
• Ensure safe pickup and transport from programs to home or activities. Mileage Reimbursement at federal rate!

Requirements

• Must possess a valid driver’s license with no more than 3 points and have access to a vehicle for work purposes.
• Must have proof of car insurance.
• Must have a High School Diploma (or equivalent) and a minimum of two (2) years’ experience working with adults diagnosed with varying intellectual disabilities and or developmental disabilities.
• Must be able to work individually as well as within a team.
• Must be able to multi-task.
• Must be able to work with “high-risk” consumers who have mental illnesses as well as development or intellectual disabilities as well as physical.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities (preferred).
• Ability to pass background checks and FBI fingerprinting.

Pay

Hourly Rate Range: $20.00 - $21.00

Schedule

Lanham (Support for 21y.o. Twin Males):* Schedule: Mon–Fri (3pm–8pm). Focus: Transportation from Silver Spring, social integration, and building independent living habits, accompanying to local gym.
