Direct Support Professional
Position is open until filled / Anticipated start date is immediate
Major Responsibilities
- Provide direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities in various home, recreational and vocational settings
- Maintain and submit timely and accurate written documentation including, but not limited to individual progress, behavioral data, and administrative documentation in electronic databases
- Participate in recreational activities and outings with individuals
- Absorb and assist individuals with daily chores and activities of daily living
- Participate in all routine residence maintenance as is appropriate within normal context of home ownership
- Provide financial, life skills, and Activities of Daily Life education
- Able to obtain and maintain all company provided trainings and certifications (DDS/CPR/First Aid)
- Accompany and transport individuals to and from medical appointments
- Adhere to all agency policies
- Maintain confidentiality
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Knowledge of related state and federal regulations
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to perform a physical restraint
Qualifications/Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or related field preferred
- Valid CT driver's license and auto insurance
- Demonstrate leaderships skills including effective problem solving, planning and organizing
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Requires pushing pulling
- Must be able to perform essential functions with or without accommodations
